In Loving Memory of Lorraine MacKenzie

Sorry it’s been a little quiet around here, I was busy getting married!  People’s first reaction to me getting married in frigid February is usually a confused look, but let me tell you it was magical. It was an intimate candlelit ceremony at a cozy little farm surrounded by all of my favorite people!  Also, when you know it’s snowing at home your honeymoon is that much more enjoyable. I often get inquiries about photographing weddings but they are not my cup of tea. So for anyone looking for a wedding photographer check out mine, Jannelle of Sweet Connolly Photography. She is responsible for the amazing picture above (left) and I promise you will love her!

Unfortunately the week leading up to my wedding was a tough one. My healthy, independent, witty Nana had come down with the flu/pneumonia and it got the best of her. She passed away the day before my wedding.  Ironically part of the reason I chose my wedding date was because it was my Papa’s birthday.  So it did comfort me to know she was in heaven with her soulmate on his birthday watching my wedding from above.  One of my bridesmaid gifts to my girls was mittens knit by my Nana.

If you have been following my Facebook page for a while you have probably seen pictures of my Nana.  She was one of my favorite subjects to photograph.  I remember after I finished my first photography class I begged her to help me practice and be my model.  Knowing it would help me out she agreed. She was a little timid at first, but as we went on I saw how much fun she was having! If I had asked her to climb a tree for a picture she would have done it!  The way I look at it, the elderly have given so much. They are always looking out for their children & grandchildren putting them first.  I think it’s nice to have the spotlight on them for a change. Now that she is gone I am so happy I have these pictures of her – I will treasure them forever.

To honor of my grandmother, Lorraine MacKenzie, I wanted to do something special.  I am asking all of you to nominate an elderly person/couple you would like me to photograph for free*.   I will interview them and make a blog post highlighting this person and showing everyone how special they are.  Comment with someone you would like to nominate. On Sunday, March 1st I will choose one winner at random and post the results on my Stefanie Palmacci Photography Facebook page.

*the session has too be located within 30 miles of Weymouth, MA.  This cannot be traded in for a different type of session and this is strictly for the elderly not an extended family shoot.  You will receive any pictures I edit for download at no cost.
