Everlasting Love in Quincy, MA

It’s not very common these days to come across a couple who has been married 70 years, that’s why I could not wait to chat it up with Rosario “Charles” and Bernadette “Betty.” Charles had so much spunk at just 93 years young! I could tell he was proud to have Betty as his wife. One of the first things he did was pull out a picture of her from his wallet of when she was 17! His eyes lit up talking about her even when she was sitting right next to him.

Charles is 6 years older than Betty which may explain why her father made her have a chaperone for their first date! Captured by her beauty they were married in 6 months.

Charles and Betty are your classic hardworking Americans truly passionate about their family. Charles fought in WWII and spent his life working odd jobs. He put in long hours to make ends meet for his family. Betty was a homemaker and raised their 3 boys, although I wasn’t surprised to hear she did some modeling in her early years! They are the foundation of a growing family with 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

When I asked them the secret to a successful relationship they said respect and patience are key! “We’ve lived a good life,” they said. I could tell they appreciate the little things in life, how being surrounded by family and having each other is more than they could ever need.

With so much going on in this world right now it was so refreshing to take a step back and remember what’s truly important. Nothing is more important than your family, your health and love. Appreciate what you do have and keep things simple.
I hope everyone finds their “Charles” or “Betty” <3
xoxo,
Stefanie
