It’s not very common these days to come across a couple who has been married 70 years, that’s why I could not wait to chat it up with Rosario “Charles” and Bernadette “Betty.” Charles had so much spunk at just 93 years young! I could tell he was proud to have Betty as his wife. One of the first things he did was pull out a picture of her from his wallet of when she was 17! His eyes lit up talking about her even when she was sitting right next to him.
Charles and Betty are your classic hardworking Americans truly passionate about their family. Charles fought in WWII and spent his life working odd jobs. He put in long hours to make ends meet for his family. Betty was a homemaker and raised their 3 boys, although I wasn’t surprised to hear she did some modeling in her early years! They are the foundation of a growing family with 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
When I asked them the secret to a successful relationship they said respect and patience are key! “We’ve lived a good life,” they said. I could tell they appreciate the little things in life, how being surrounded by family and having each other is more than they could ever need.
With so much going on in this world right now it was so refreshing to take a step back and remember what’s truly important. Nothing is more important than your family, your health and love. Appreciate what you do have and keep things simple.
I hope everyone finds their “Charles” or “Betty” <3
I hope your New Year is off to a good start! Things are going great for me, my little girl is FIVE months already! I absolutely adore her and feel so lucky she is mine. I must tell her I love her 100 x’s a day and smother her in kisses. The poor thing doesn’t have a Mother she has a SMOTHER!haha
February is the month of love and extra love for me because it’s also my anniversary. To celebrate all of the love I wanted to offer a free “Senior” session again. Some of you may remember I did this a few years ago to honor my late Grandmother. Check out that post here: CLICK ME!
Here is my cutie patootie Nana that was the drive behind this idea. I came across the best Meme yesterday that fits this image and my Nana perfectly “If your Grandparents don’t wave at you from the moment you leave their house until fully out of sight are they even your Grandparents?”
Comment with your nomination of an elderly person or couple that you would like me to photograph. I will interview them and make a blog post highlighting this person and showing everyone how special they are. On Sunday, February 11th I will choose one winner at random and post the results on my Stefanie Palmacci Photography Facebook page.
If you would like to see my blog post of the last winner you can find that here: A Date with Dorie
I am really excited for this and look forward to seeing all of your nominations. This is the kind of shoot that feeds my soul:) Feel free to share this post to get the word out!
*The session has too be located within 30 miles of Kingston, MA. This cannot be traded in for a different type of session and this is strictly for the elderly not an extended family shoot. You will receive any pictures I edit for download at no cost.
